Appalachian Heritage and History Collection

This collection includes items of historical significance in Appalachian history, including Civil War items, newspapers, photographs, farming equipment, and household items. We have an exhibit in our barn dedicated to the history of farming in the region (Plow to Pantry), a first-edition copy of The Mountaineer's first ever issue, and items from Civil War skirmishes fought right here in Waynesville. As a museum that prioritizes the preservation and celebration of our region's history, we pride ourselves on our extensive catalog of Haywood County history.
