Quilts, Weaving, and Textiles Collection

Not only are we a proud member of the Haywood County Quilt Trails, but we also have an extensive collection of quilts, weaving, and other textile-based crafts.  Our quilt collection alone includes items from  [possibly] 1805 to 2012. Our quilt displays rotate with each season and boast a variety of patterns, from Victorian "Crazy Quilts" to traditional Appalachian designs. Our collection even contains an original Kate Clayton "Granny" Donaldson piece!

In the Textile  Room, you’ll find a 1876 dressmaker’s pattern for cutting dresses, a 1872 Wheeler Wilson sewing machine, and a great display of hand sewn, woven, crocheted, tatted, and other hand crafted items.

We have several woven pieces on display, including winners of NC State Fair prizes. The woven items range from large pieces such as blankets to smaller, more decorative pieces.
